Alright, so I thought I’d get down to explaining what I mean by this blog. As I mentioned above I want to stay in touch with everyone I’ve left behind on Facebook. All of my anti-corporate Facebook bashing statements aside, I really did enjoy being able to connect with friends and family so easily on Facebook. However over the last couple of years I’ve begun to feel that’s come at a pretty high price. That connection has been a hollow one. Seeing someone online and saying Hi, wishing “Happy Birthday” is great but it can’t replace actually writing a letter, calling, or seeing someone in person. I find Facebook’s actually getting in the way of the connection with people I really want to have.
Secondly, I can’t stand how much time I spend either browsing my feed and seeing what everyone else is up to, or clicking through thousands of funny memes. So I think it’s a good time now to take a step back from the book. I’m deleting my facebook page because I want people to call me if they want to talk to me. I’m not a huge fan of the phone either, but it’s a lot better than Facebook I think. I’m sure I’ll miss the pictures but I’ll get over it, Google’s got lots of cool pictures (evidence below).
What will I do with all of the time I’m not wasting on Facebook? As I mentioned earlier in a post I’m trying to write a book. I’ve spent a bunch of time doing this before on various other projects. I usually keep this stuff pretty secret as I have very crappy follow-through and stop writing after a while. I’m coming at this from a very different direction though so I hope I can get farther on through this. It’s also a topic I’m pretty passionate about so I’ll be more inclined to finish it. If anyone’s interested I’ll be posting some interesting tid-bits as I write them. Apparently WordPress allows me to password protect some posts so if you’re interested in helping me edit this potential nightmare please let me know and I’ll get you the password.
I’ll follow up here with exactly how I’m approaching this differently from my usual writing style and hopefully get good feedback (good meaning constructive…doesn’t have to be positive!)
Stay tuned!
All the best with your book!
Thank you!
I don’t even know the way I ended up right here, but I believed this submit was great. I don’t recognise who you’re but definitely you’re going to
a well-known blogger if you aren’t already. Cheers!
